Indiana AFL-CIO Labor Institute For Training (LIFT)

The Indiana State AFL-CIO Labor Institute For Training, Inc. LIFT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our purpose is to identify and secure funding from both public and private sources, in order to develop and administer training and other educational programs. Our goal is to increase and improve the employment opportunities of persons working in the state of Indiana.

LIFT was recognized as the official training arm of the Indiana State AFL-CIO by resolution to the Constitution at the 1991 Convention. The Indiana AFL-CIO President, Ken Zeller, oversees LIFT operations as Chair of the LIFT Board of Directors.

LIFT fully supports programs that assist the jobless in the development of marketable skills and encourages programs, which promote lifelong learning. Through The Labor Institute For Training, Inc. (LIFT), workers are able to express their opinion, voice their concerns, and have input in the design of programs that impact their future livelihood. 

LIFT advocates life-long learning and self improvement for all people in the state of Indiana . LIFT promotes full employment and the development of quality collaborative programs between labor, business, and industry, government, education, and local communities.

The Indiana State AFL-CIO Labor Institute For Training, Inc. (LIFT) has developed a high performance partnership to provide lifelong learning opportunities for Hoosier workers. Partners include representatives from education, government, labor, and local community foundation.

This Center has been developed to increase access to employment and training related resources for union members and their families. It is available to support the needs of the current and future workforce; providing opportunities for learners of all ages.

Individuals will have the opportunity to better prepare themselves for the workforce. Whether pursuing a new career or seeking advancement in their current career, whatever their goals, the Center will support continuous learning so that individuals may achieve the skills necessary to obtain or retain a good job.
